Why We LOVE Mini Kebabs
One of the many challenges a busy mum faces while prepping party food for tiny tummies is finding the right balance between healthy, tasty, and fun options.
This super versatile recipe checks all the right boxes!
In fact, it’s been proven time and again at plenty of WMBT HQ parties, this Mini Party Kebab is a crowd-pleaser. Don’t expect a lot of leftovers here!
The best part is, aside from being a perfect backyard party treat, these are also lovely to take along for a picnic, to pack in a lunch box, or to serve as a mid-day snack.
And because it’s a breeze to make (it’s literally slice, dice, and skewer), it can be a nice party activity for all the kids to participate in.
Give your own kiddos a head start! Before the party, they can already help identify and wash the veggies. For the bigger kids, they can get in on slicing the sausages. Simply gather all the ingredients beforehand and you’re good to go.
Once you have all the pieces in place, your little guests can then unleash their inner chefs. It’s such a fun and exciting way to encourage fussy eaters to explore a variety of tastes and textures while noshing on something healthy.
Preparation is ridiculously easy, and making it look elegant and impressive doesn’t take much either. Especially if you serve up this culinary treat in a nice silicone snack box.
Our pick is the WMBT Snackies - can you imagine these colourful cuties lined up on the table? They come with a lid that you can use to secure and store your ingredients pre-party.
When tiny tummies start to rumble, just pop the lid off and serve as is! Whether still in pieces or pre-assembled, the little beasts won’t be able to resist!
Not only does it look good, but it’s also a time-saving kitchen buddy that’s easy to clean. YAAAAS!
What’s In Our Party Kebab
This Mini Party Kebab recipe uses only four ingredients and yet the WOW factor is pretty strong in both flavour and nutrition.
Let’s take a closer look at our favourite food on a stick:
Sausages
Kids LOVE sausage. It’s a great treat for them! But because some sausages tend to be high in sodium, this Mini Kebab recipe is the perfect way to serve them in perfectly portioned pieces.
You can go for pork, turkey, or even vegetarian ones that are tofu-based.
Cherry/Grape Tomatoes
The bright and refreshing burst from sweet cherry or grape tomatoes brings the perfect balance to this recipe. These are delicious bite-sized summer favourites that are loaded with nutrients.
Cucumber
Cucumbers are super juicy so they are the perfect summertime snack to serve when it’s hot out. Aside from the nice cool crunch they add, they are also packed with vitamins, fibre, and calcium our growing munchkins need.
Cheddar Cheese
We don’t want to sound cheesy, but there’s something about cheddar that makes the tummies (both tiny and full-grown) over at the WMBT HQ flutter. It’s easy to serve, it’s full of nutrients, and it’s such a tasty treat on its own.
This recipe is top-notch and a guaranteed crowd pleaser, but here are other combinations you can try for variety:
- Chicken Nuggets & Mini Pancakes
- Banana, Strawberry, Chocolate Brownie
- Ham, Cheese, Cherry Tomato, & Grape
- Raspberry, Pineapple, Kiwi, & Blueberry with a Honey Glaze
The great thing about the Mini Party Kebab recipe is it’s impossible to get wrong and is totally flexible. You can easily swap out any ingredient with what you have in your pantry.
